My husband used to say he had his best inspiration’s for his many talks in the shower, I’m sure he wasn’t the only one, what is it about running warm water that does this, brings inspiration?
When we were running Manna Ministries together for sixteen years in Cape Town, South Africa, we had a very special word from the bible that still means a lot to me today. It comes from 2 Corinthians chapter 1 vs 3-4 ( 3.) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort( 4.)who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
David did not keep good records of his many talks but he had a gift for speaking to people and reaching their deepest needs, so the response was tears or laughter never the dulcet tones of soft snores.
When we went out together to a supermarket he would disappear but I could always locate where he was by the sound of laughter ringing out across the isle’s.
It is still amazing to me what God can do with a very lost soul . David suffered the devastating effects of alcoholism from the age of fourteen and yet God in His mercy and grace pulled him out of the pit of despair and made him into a person who could help others with the comfort he had received.
David’s story of recovery is in the book The Manna Pathway, a must read for people suffering the effects of alcoholism and the families that are battling with the problem.
